Patrick Galang - Arakan Martial Art Instructor

Patrick Galang

Senior Instructor

Training Since: 2013

Teaching Since: 2023

Technique of Choice: Roll Knuckle

Weapon of Choice: Dagger

Patrick began his Arakan journey back in 2000 when he was introduced by his close friends to attend a group introductory lesson led by Chief Instructor Robert Kyaw.

He was amazed by the effectiveness of the style especially in its adaptation to real life, street situations.

The love for the art grew quickly and he trained as much as he could to improve. Soon it became about personal development as much as improving his martial art skills.

Patrick’s dedication and attitude led him to receiving the honour of becoming an Arakan Instructor and allowed him to share his knowledge to impact other students.

In 2005, Patrick stepped away from Arakan to pursue career opportunities in Sydney where unfortunately Arakan had not yet been established.

Arakan was always in his heart and after a brief return in 2018, he made a full comeback in 2023, 18 years since he left as an instructor to continue his journey.

His greatest Arakan achievements to date is teaching his students to be able to protect themselves at a high level, and grading his Orange Belt.

Patrick’s wife and 3.5 year old daughter also train and he believes everyone should learn these life skills at any age.

His hard work and attention to detail have tremendously helped me grow in my training physically, mentally, and emotionally. Hormesis and the Arakan Effect: Training That Builds You Stronger Under Stress

Biohackers live by the principle of hormesis – the idea that small, controlled doses of stress make the body stronger, smarter, and more resilient.
It’s why we take cold showers. Fast. Hit the sauna. Lift heavy. Breathe deep.
We stress ourselves on purpose – to grow.
But there’s one powerful, often overlooked form of hormetic training: martial arts. And not just any martial art – one designed for real-life chaos, pressure, and unpredictability.
That’s exactly what Arakan Martial Art delivers. And it’s one of the most potent, natural ways to upgrade your stress response system – physically, mentally, and emotionally.
