Biggest Arakan Achievement: Grading my yellow belt!
Interests outside of Arakan: my interests outside of Arakan consist of Cars and Motorbikes!

I have been training Arakan for about 6 months and started out with the intent to learn some self defence and improve fitness. I have thoroughly enjoyed the mental and physical challenge of learning new techniques and credit my instructors who are dedicated and knowledgeable. All of my questions are answered and my instructors take the time to identify and work with me to improve my training. They are flexible and really approachable so I always feel welcome and can ask questions. I intend to continue training and learning, and will be getting my family involved when the kids are old enough.

I first joined Arakan because I wanted to build up my confidence and learn how to defend myself. Alex Jameson has been my instructor for the past 7months, he is a very patient and dedicated instructor who puts me in a safe yet challenging environment and pushes me past my limits, giving me the strength and confidence I need. With thanx to Alex I attended my first warrior day this year, something I never thought I could do. He has helped me believe in myself again and I look forward to learning more valuable skills and techniques from him during my Arakan journey.

About a month or so into my training, I was in town on the way to the taxi stand after a night out, when a guy started to verbally abuse me from behind as he had mistaken me for someone else (as he was calling me another name!!). I turned around as my Instructor Jayson Osborne had taught me to be square to your opponent. As he continued to verbally abuse me I asked what his problem was and to go away! He threw a swing at me where I responded with a last resort cover then dropped him with a straight palm. When I awoke the next day I realized that if I hadn't learnt a last resort cover then things could have been a hell of a lot different! The thing I've learned most is that you’re never going to know when a situation is going to arise but the amazing skills and confidence you learn from Arakan can adapt to any situation you may encounter in your life even if you have just started out. Now I've been doing it for a year I have learned many more skills to help deal with those situations and it will only grow as I continue on my Arakan journey…

Martial Arts for over 40's

Martial arts’ is traditionally seen as something we enrol our children into whilst at school or we participated when we were younger. We all see the benefits of learning a martial art; improved fitness and health, balance, coordination, focus, discipline and agility, as well as learning self defence skills. However, more adults are beginning to see the benefits of training a martial art and beginning their journey as a mature aged student.

There is no age barrier to training Arakan Martial Art®. We have students as young as 3 years of age and as old as 83 learning Arakan Martial Art®.  READ MORE

Turning your health around with Arakan Martial Art

My journey started when I shared some medical results with my son. I had been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the Liver, ultimately if untreated it would lead to further health complications and diminished quality of life. I asked my doctor what was the cause, I was told it was related to me being over weight (Girth Size). I asked what treatment I needed. I was told "Just lose weight".
I spoke to my family about my condition and what the doctor said. My eldest son , who also does Arakan, said "I have just the thing for you". READ MORE
